Black Box Introduces Fiber Optic Cable Fault Locators

Friday, Mar 05, 2010

Isolate light leaks or breaks in fiber optic cable with two new fault locators from Black Box.

The Visual Light Source Pen for Fiber (FOVFL-PEN) is a lightweight pen-style tool with 0 dBm output. The Visual Fault Locator for Fiber (FOVFL) offers three output levels, 0 dBm, +3 dBm, and a powerful +8 dBm. Use either to identify faults, bad connectors, and poor splices in fiber lines. Because they work with jacketed and bare fiber, they’re great tools to have on hand to check jumper cables, patch panel connections, and fanouts. Both have an auto-shutoff feature to conserve battery power.
