Tuesday, Jun 13, 2017
OFS, a leading manufacturer of innovative fiber optic products and solutions will showcase continued technical and industry leadership in two highly rated educational sessions at the annual Fiber Connect Conference to be held at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center, Orlando, Florida from June 12 - 14 2017.

Mark Boxer, Applications Engineering Manager and Jeff Bush, Professional Services Manager for OFS will present “FTTH Basics and Network Design” on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 10:45AM – 11:45AM.

“The goal of this session is to provide a broad background on FTTH so the attendee will be better able to appreciate content in later sessions in the conference. In this session, we discuss the drivers behind the insatiable demand for bandwidth. We’ll then talk about the role of fiber in today’s network. From there, we’ll give definitions and details about the components of a typical fiber to the home network. We then discuss typical installation techniques. Finally, we discuss tradeoffs for different network architectures.”

John George, Director of Solutions and Professional Services for OFS and Fiber Broadband Association Board Member will moderate the “MDU Panel: Opportunities and Solutions” on Monday, June 12th from 8:00AM – 9:30AM.

MDU Panel: Opportunities and Solutions

“Bringing fiber networks to multiple dwelling units (MDUs) would seemingly offer a strong business case based on the high concentration of potential subscribers in buildings. However, network operators initially focused on single-family, detached homes due to the high cost of deploying fiber in buildings and exclusive agreements with existing service providers. Now, both of these barriers have been overcome. Network operators have the tools to succeed in deploying fiber all the way to the living unit in existing MDUs, and there is additional opportunity to provide fiber to every living unit in the hundreds of thousands of new MDU living units built each year. Join us for this panel to gain expert perspective on why and how fiber to the MDU is becoming the norm, rather than the exception, for our industry.”
